Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket Installation - 2023 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you the very easy installation on the Hopkins four and seven pole wiring harness. Adding a four and seven pole wiring harness to the back of your Colorado's gonna allow you to pull any type of trailer out there on the market, as long as it doesn't have a six pole on it. And if it has a six pole, you can get a seven to six pole adapter to pull those trailers too. Your four pole's gonna be here on the top. Your seven pole's gonna be on the bottom, and it's gonna be just like a factory plug as if you we're to get the hitch and wiring from the manufacturer. more

Ron: How's it going everybody Ron here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins multi-tow trailer connector on our 2019 Chevrolet Colorado. Now, our Hopkins multi-tow trailer connector is going to fit directly into the bumper. And it almost looks factory because this is the same connector that is going to come from the factory. It's going to provide us with a seven way connector, as well as a four way connector, which is really nice because those are the two most common trailer connectors that you see on trailers.Now, our four way trailer connectors here on the bottom is to provide us all of our light functions, like our taillights, our turn signals, and our brake lights. Now, the seven ways you can also provide those light functions, but it's also going to give us a way to add a brake controller in and have that brake output signal, our reverse light signals, and a 12 volt power source.And each one of the doors is spring loaded. more

Hi there, Colorado owners. Today in your 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins seven and four pole wiring connector with harness. This is going to make a great replacement harness if you have a damaged connector here at the back on your Colorado. You can easily replace your factory wiring, but it also allows you to add wiring to your Colorado as many Colorado's come with factory wiring pre-attached to the frame underneath and they'll just have a dummy plug here where it's just a cover that doesn't have any openings. Those can pop out and this will insert directly into that, and then you can use the included harness to wire it right up to that factory connector.What I like about this is that you get both a seven and a four pole connector, so regardless of which type your trailer has you've got accommodations for both. It allows you to use your factory wiring, so unlike some of the other harnesses out there, you don't have to tap into any of the circuits. more

What I really like about this setup is the fact that it's going to use a factory mounting location, so it's going to look really clean. And the fact that it's not only going to give us a 7-Way connector, but if you flip open the door on the bottom, it's also going to provide us with a four-pole flat connector. That's especially nice if you happen to tow different types of trailers with different types of connectors, you're not going to have to deal with getting a adaptor plug or anything like that. Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Connector on our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Now our plugins here provide us with a four way flat trailer connector as well as a seven way RV style trailer connector. Those are really the most two common connectors that you'll find on trailers and the nice thing is if you do have a different connector, our seven way is going to accept all sorts of adapters so even a five or six way round. We're going to adapt it for use with that as well.Now our four ways going to provide us with our taillights, our turn signals and our stoplights so we get all the lighting functions to get down the road safely. Now our seven way are can provide us those as well, but it's also going to give us a 12 volt power source here at the back, our reverse lights, and we're going to be able to hook up a brake controller later on down the road and be able to control the brakes on the trailer.And like most trailer connectors, it's going to have a built-in dust cover. The door is going to be spring loaded to keep all the dirt and debris out and if we look inside, we're also going to have this gasket that's going to seal everything up really nice and prevent any kind of water from leaking in. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins 7-pole and 4-pole trailer connector sockets and wiring, part number HM40975-11998.Here's what a wiring harness looks like installed. Now the reason you're going to want this wiring harness over other options is because this gives us a 7-way here, which gives us the ability to tow a trailer with electric brakes, provided you have brake controller installed in your vehicle and it also gives us a 4-pole flat. So if we're towing just a small trailer and only need lighting functions, this will be a great way for us to be able to tow both trailers without needing any adapters. The most common connectors you see on trailers are either a 7-pole, like the hard top one, or a 4-pole, like our bottom.Another great feature about this, is that this gives us a very factory-like appearance on our Colorado. Matter of fact, this exact piece right here is actually used by several manufacturers during the manufacturing process on the vehicle.Our doors are spring-loaded and as you see, we have a nice rubber seal around them to help keep elements out of the inside of our connector, which could cause corrosion over time. This will make sure we have a nice solid electrical connection with any of our trailers so we don't have to worry about short circuits or poor performance from brakes or lighting.And now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.To begin our install, we went head and removed our spare tire. more

Today on our 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C55510. Now here's what our kit's going to consist of, we're going to have a T-Connector and it's going to plug into the factory harness. And this converter box, that's going to convert your signal of your vehicle to a two-wire system, as most trailers are wired. We're also going to have some two-sided tape to attach this. Our self-tapping screw to attach the ground. And we'll have this weather-tight cap that's going to protect our wiring when it's not in use. We'll start under our truck here on the driver's side, there's going to be this plug right here, that's the one we're going to use. more

Trailer Connector Socket Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado we're going to show you how to install the Pollak 7 and 4 Pole Trailer Connector Socket with Mounting Bracket. Part number is HM40975. This is what our wiring kit is going to look like when we pull it out of the package. As you can see we have a bracket and a couple of self-tapping screws. We're not going to need those, we can set these aside. This plug's been designed specifically to slide into the back bumper where the hold already exists. All we'll need to do is unplug the 7 pole connector that's on the back of the false plug, plug it into here and clip it into position. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to show you how to install the Pollak 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets with Mounting Bracket and Wiring. This is for the vehicle end. It's part number is HM40975-11998. Here's what our wiring kit is going to look like when we pull it out of the package. We're going to have our factory style connector here with our plain wire ends. We can wire those right into the harness underneath the vehicle. That's going to plug in to a really nice connector here. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Today on our 2005 Chevy Colorado we're going to install the Curt Wiring Harness part number C55510. To begin with on the back corner of the vehicle on the driver side we will locate the wiring harness where we will make our connections. If you will notice one side has pins in it and the other side has female slot areas. You will take the side that has the pins and push it into the side that has the female slots. Once you have both connections made you need to take the self-tapping screws supplied with the kit and find a good spot on the frame to secure the grounding wire. We will use a two-sided adhesive tape and we will attach the converter box to the back side of our hitch. Now that this is done we will use some zip ties to secure the extra wiring up out of the way. As you can see here we've taken the end of the 4-pole and used the loop strap that comes with the kit to connect it to the safety chain loop. That will do it for our Curt Wiring Harness part number C55510 on our 2005 Chevy Colorado. . more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 41165 on a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, this harness also applies to the GMC Canyon. We are underneath the vehicle now. We are going to go ahead and point out where the wiring harness is located. You can see where the spare tire is located, directly to the left of that, at the merging of the cross member and the frame, you can see the wiring connectors here. The first thing we want to do is go ahead and disconnect these two pieces. You can see there is a little tab here. Go ahead and push that in and pull the two connectors apart. more
